Youth Promotion Tee
Studio Notes
Part of our first collaboration with the renowned photographer Beth Lesser.
Available as part of a limited run.
This t-shirt features a digital print of Sugar Minott's iconic Youth Promotion sound system and non-profit organisation. His motivation and philosophy was to create a university of music where young people could come and practice alongside more experienced musicians. Sugar had a knack for spotting kids with raw talent and providing them with guidance on how to achieve a successful career in music.
Sugar's yard, Youth Promotion HQ, was always a hub of activity filled with energy and character. Many notable names passed through the yard and recorded with Sugar, including Junior Reid, Tenor Saw and Jah Stitch. Whilst Sugar passed away in 2010, Youth Promotion is still running as a sound system today. A charity concert was held in 2012 to commemorate Sugar’s birthday and included performances by Bounty Killer, Sizzla and Beenie Man.
All of our t-shirts are 100% ring-spun Organic Cotton. They are printed using vegan and 100% phthalate free ink.
The brand mantra is ‘blind’ embroidered near the hem.
For every item sold we will donate meals to feed four people in need.
